Bios is Indo-European for life.

Etymology
From Proto-Indo-European *gʷeih₃w- (“to live”). Cognate with Old Church Slavonic жити (žiti), Sanskrit जीवति (jīvati), Latin vīvō, Old Armenian կեամ (keam). Cf. *gʷih₃wós (“alive”), whence Latin vīvus, Old Church Slavonic живъ (živŭ), Old English cwic (> English quick).
