The 100 Scariest Movie Moments was a TV mini series first shown in late October 2004 on Bravo TV.

It counts down the 100 most shocking moments in the history of movies, with interviews from horror experts or other celebrities who experienced the films on the list. It also features film clips and movie stills.

Wes Craven has the most films on the list with five (The Last House on the Left, The Hills Have Eyes, The Serpent and the Rainbow, A Nightmare on Elm Street and Scream). The filmmakers that tie for second with three films are George A. Romero (Night of the Living Dead, Dawn of the Dead and Creepshow), David Cronenberg (The Fly, The Brood and The Dead Zone) and Steven Spielberg (Jurassic Park, Duel and Jaws, the latter of which was voted as the scariest moment). The filmmakers that tie for third with two films are John Carpenter (John Carpenter's The Thing and Halloween), David Fincher (Se7en and The Game), M. Night Shyamalan (The Sixth Sense and Signs), Alfred Hitchcock (Psycho and The Birds), Mario Bava (Black Sunday and Blood and Black Lace), Tod Browning (Freaks and Dracula), Roman Polanski (Rosemary's Baby and The Tenant), Tobe Hooper (The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Poltergeist), and Lucio Fulci (Zombie and The Beyond). It should also be noted that, while only one movie by Dario Argento appears on the list(Suspiria), another movie on the list, Demons, was produced, but not directed by him.

There are also six Stephen King adaptations on the list (Carrie, Cujo, The Dead Zone, Misery, Pet Semetary and The Shining). A sixth movie on the list, Creepshow, was not an adaptation but was a film co-written by him.

Roat, the leader of the gang looking for the doll in Susy Hendrix's apartment lunges and grabs Susy's ankle as she attempts to escape.

9 - Night of the Living Dead

Karen, after eating her father, attacks her mother with a gardening trowel.

8 - Carrie

As Sue lays flowers on the remains of Carrie White's house during a dream, Carrie's hand comes out of the remains and grabs Sue's arm.

7 - The Silence of the Lambs

Hannibal Lecter makes his dramatic escape from prison.

6 - The Shining

Jack Torrance's wife finds out just how long her husband has been insane as he creeps up behind her.

5 - The Texas Chain Saw Massacre

Leatherface kills Kirk with a sledgehammer, drags him inside, and shuts the sliding steel door.

4 - Psycho

Marion Crane is shockingly attacked with a butcher knife in the film's infamous "Shower Scene".

3 - The Exorcist

The possessed Regan MacNeil masturbates violently with a crucifix, speaking in the rabid-doglike voice of the demon.

2 - Alien

John Hurt's character begins coughing and gagging during breakfast and is held down by his coworkers, who think he is having a seizure. He begins spasming violently, and then his chest explodes with a spray of blood, and a baby alien rises from his chest, snarls, and scampers away.

1 - Jaws

The opening scene of the girl skinny-dipping in the moonlight, who is jerked underwater and begins breathing with extreme speed in terror at having lost her foot. She is then jerked underwater again, and then again, and then dragged violently back and forth in the water, screaming in agony for help, by an unseen force, and is finally jerked underwater permanently, and there is silence.
