2-step garage (or just 2-step) is a typically British style of modern electronic dance music, and a relatively popular sub-genre of UK garage. It shares, like other styles of garage, characteristics with other sub-genres.

Characteristics
While 2-step shares the four-on-the-floor kick drum pattern of 4x4, it incorporates elements of funk into it, and is typically slower, allowing it to be more danceable, hence the name 2-step, taken from the dance-move of the same name.
Often featured is an MC over the top, with a vocal style showing similarities to jungle.
