The idea is a very old one: [[[Theocritus]] Idyll vi. 18] γὰρ ἕρωṯί ρολλάκίς‥ṯὰ μή καλὰ καλὰ ρέϕανṯαί, for in the eyes of love that which is not beautiful often seems beautiful.
