Bobok (1873) is a fantastic short tale by Fyodor Dostoyevsky. Its narrator is Ivan Ivanovich.
First published in the non-fiction collection A Writer's Diary, it was published by Penguin Classics in 1966, translated by Jessie Coulson.
In some regions of Poland like Silesia or Great Poland, children are mock threatened with bebok (babok, bobok), a bogeyman-like creature from old Polish legends.
