The existence of similarities among the deities and religious practices of the Indo-European (IE) peoples allows glimpses of a common Proto-Indo-European (PIE) religion and mythology. Reconstruction is based on the comparative method. Archaeological evidence is difficult to match to any specific culture in the period of early Indo-European culture
in the Chalcolithic.
