Data refers to a collection of natural phenomena descriptors including the results of experience, observation or experiment, or a set of premises. This may consist of numbers, words, or images, particularly as measurements or observations of a set of variables. Data on its own has no meaning, only when interpreted by some kind of data processing system does it take on meaning and become information.
