Larry Sultan (July 13, 1946 in New York - 13 December 2009 in Greenbrae, California) was an American photographer. His work was recognized with a Guggenheim Fellowship as well as multiple grants from the NEA. At the time of his death from cancer, he was a Distinguished Professor of Photography and Fine Arts at the California College of the Arts. He published "a dense series of pictures of middle-class homes invaded by the porn industry " called The Valley in 2004, but he is best known for his 1977 collection of found photos called "Evidence," which the New York Times characterized as "a watershed in the history of art photography."
