Joseph Mallord William Turner (April 23 1775 (exact date disputed)December 19 1851) was an English Romantic landscape painter, watercolourist and printmaker, whose style can be said to have laid the foundation for Impressionism, known for works such as Rain, Steam and Speed - The Great Western Railway (1844).
