Paul Winley is/was an American based musical entrepreneur and owner of Paul Winley Records, a bootleg label famous for releasing Malcolm X speeches, a series of break beat compilations called "Super Disco Brake's" (or "Super Disco Breaks") and Afrika Bambaataa's "Zulu Nation Throwdown Pt. 1" in 1980.
Malcolm X speeches
The Malcolm X speeches were published clandestinely on Paul Winley Records. In these recordings a fictional announcer had been inserted asking Malcolm questions on all sorts of issues ranging from his views on non-violence to the concept of Black nationalism. The answers to the announcer's questions were taken from various Malcolm X speeches such as "Ballot of the Bullet" or the "Message To The Grass Roots".
Super Disco Breaks
Paul Winley Records' bootleg Super Disco Breaks were the first break beat compilations. Another series is Ultimate Breaks and Beats of which there are 25 volumes, also bootleg. Hip hop break beat compilations include Hardcore Break Beats and Break Beats, and Drum Drops.
