Robert Baldick (1927-1972) was a Fellow of Pembroke College Oxford, a French scholar, writer, editor of the Penguin classics and a well-known translator. He wrote eight books including biographies of J. K. Huysmans, Frédérick Lemaître and Henry Murger and a history of the Siege of Paris.
