José Mojica Marins was a Brazilian film director, best-kownn for his persona "Coffin Joe").

RIP Flavio Bucci (1947 – 2020)

Flavio Bucci was an Italian actor known in my canon for his tiny part in the metafilm Closed Circuit.

I wrote about that film here.

In that film Flavio Bucci sports thick glasses and plays the part of a sociologist who takes notes of the audience's reactions during the screening of the film. Afterwards he is interrogated by the police. Has he seen anything.

Diane Frée ... hier de passage over het cultuurpessimisme, een thema dat mij dierbaar is, ik maakte die commentaren voor ik het artikel van Vervliet las. In het krantenartikel wordt ook 'Zwijgen is geen optie' vermeld, wat ik een ontzettend irritant programma vind (ik kan het echt niet helpen). In de laatste aflevering zegt eerwaarde David van Reybrouck tegen Zigo "Aan de binnenkant zijn wij vies" ... en ik vond dat zo tegen de borst stuiten ... ik heb daar geen item van gemaakt omdat Reybrouck wel iets zei waar ik nieuwsgierig naar ben ... a) of het klopt dat wij zo'n hoge zelfmoordcijfers hebben (misschien tellen wij beter dan andere landen) ... en b) hoe zou dat komen en c) we hebben toch die zelfmoordlijn en d) wij staan wereldwijd bekend voor ons euthanasie bij psychisch lijden ... bizarre cijfers, in de top vijf voor psychisch lijden en wereldleider in euthanasie bij levensmoeheid! Jouw gedacht Diane Frée?

RIP Andrew Weatherall (1963 – 2020)

Andrew Weatherall was an English DJ, record producer, and remixer.

There was a time when music research took up most of my time. It coincided with the golden age of the music compilation, roughly from 1990 to 2005.

From that era stem Nine O'Clock Drop (2000) and Fabric 19 (2004).

Andrew Weatherall is also the man who made me discover "Black But Sweet" (1931) via his "Wilmot" composition.
