Been thinking about the trope of strong and independent women as in mentioned in recent posts on The Sheik novel and my article on Alice Prin (Kiki). If you think about strong and independent women in history you wind up with warrior princesses, courtesans and George Sand. To encompass it all are women's rights through history and in the 20th century: feminism.
