Christiane Schmidtmer (December 24, 1939 – March 13, 2003) was a German actress, mannequin and nude model of the 1960s and 1970s.

Biography

Christiane Schmidtmer was born in Mannheim, Germany [1], and took acting lessons in Munich.

She worked in the stage in Germany from 1961 – 1963, then turned to photographic modelling for German nude magazines and later, Playboy in the USA. She also modelled for advertising companies, namely Max Factor Cosmetics, before she started her movie career

She appeared in German, as well as in US and international movie productions and TV shows. Despite the fact of being one of only a few German actresses of the 1960s who had successfully set foot in Hollywood, Christiane Schmidtmer never lived up to her real talent. Due to her attractive, stereotype German appearance she was often reduced to the role of the beautiful, blonde, sexy German.

She was the beautiful mistress of José Ferrer in Ship of Fools (1965), but most people will remember her as the evil wardress in the exploitation women-in-prison film The Big Doll House(1971) as well as the German Lufthansa stewardess Lise Bruner in Boeing Boeing. In this 1965 comedy she co-starred with Tony Curtis, Jerry Lewis, Thelma Ritter and Dany Saval (as the Air France stewardess) and Suzanna Leigh (as the British United Airways stewardess).

Towards the end of her career, Christiane Schmidtmer appeared in several B-Movie productions such as The Giant Spider Invasion (1975) and Hot Bubblegum - Lemon Popsicle 3 (1981). According to most sources this was to be her last movie in which she portrayed a nymphomaniac piano teacher.

Following her movie career Christiane Schmidtmer led a quiet life in Heidelberg, Germany. She died on March 13, 2003 at her home in Heidelberg due to natural causes after an accident.
