Cineplex is a portmanteau of cinema and multiplex and may be used generically as a synonym for a multiplex movie house. The term was coined by Philip Taylor of Toronto in 1978, son of Cineplex founder Nathan (Nat) Taylor, a veteran movie exhibitor in Canada. As a brand name it may refer to:
- Cineplex Entertainment - A cinema chain in Canada, operating as (among other brands) Cineplex Odeon Cinemas
- Loews Cineplex Entertainment - A cinema chain in the United States which recently merged with AMC Theatres.
- Cineplex Odeon Corporation - A predecessor of both Cineplex Entertainment and Loews Cineplex / AMC (which are no longer affiliated).
- Cineplex - The name of a chain of cinemas in the Republic Of Ireland and Northern Ireland owned by Ward Anderson.
- Pakistan Cineplex - A large number of cinema chains around Pakistan
- Cineplex Australia located in Brisbane with 23 screens and managed by the Catalano family. Has a history of unfair dissmissal with its casual employees. With Southbank Cinemas being the jewel in the crown.
