David Guy Compton (b. London, Great Britain August 9 1930) is a science fiction author who publishes under the name D.G. Compton.

Compton began publishing with his 1965 novel The Quality of Mercy. His 1968 novel The Steel Crocodile (alternate title The Electric Crocodile) was nominated for the Nebula Award, and his 1974 novel The Continuous Katherine Mortenhoe was filmed as Death Watch by Bertrand Tavernier in 1980.
