"En amour, il y en a toujours un qui souffre et l’autre qui s’ennuie" (In love, there is always one who suffers and another who is bored) is a dictum attributed to French writer Honoré de Balzac. As of 2015, this attribution proved to be spurious.

The dictum is reminiscent of "people aren't complicated, either they love too much, either they don't love enough ..." from the film Le Parfum d'Yvonne.
