"Fiat ars – pereat mundus" ("Let art be created, though the world perish") is a dictum coined by Walter Benjamin in his essay "The Work of Art in the Age of Mechanical Reproduction" to characterize the art theory of the Futurists. It is a play of words on "fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus."
