Francis Douce (1757-1834), antiquary, born in London, was for some time employed at the British Museum. He published Illustrations of Shakespeare (1807), and a dissertation on The Dance of Death (1833).

Douce bequeathed over 19,000 printed books and 420 manuscripts to the Bodleian Library.
