Frank Vande Veire is a Belgian philosopher, essayist and art critic. He is a regular lecturer at various universities and art institutions in Belgium and The Netherlands, and writes on contemporary art for exhibition catalogues and for art magazines such as De Witte Raaf. In 1998, he received the Flemish Award for Cultural Critique for his collected essays. In 2002, Sun Publishers, Nijmegen, published his history of art philosophy Als in een donkere spiegel.
At the Piet Zwart Institute he was a tutor from 1995-2001 and a project leader for Crucial Moments in Avant-garde Literature (November 1999-January 2000), Four Moments in 20th Century Philosophy and Thomas Mann’s ‘Doctor Faustus’ (April-July 2000) and The Return of the Real (January-April 2001).
