She lent me a Dutch copy of the 1921 drug lit classic Cocaine by Pitigrilli (in a 1982 translation by Frédérique Van Der Velde for the Dutch-language imprint Uitgeverij C. J. Goossens. Pitigrilli was with Mario Mariano and Guido da Verona one of the auteurs maudits of pre-war Italy.
