"It's Too Late" is a #1 song from Carole King's 1971 album Tapestry (see 1971 in music). Toni Stern wrote the lyric and King wrote the music. The piano part is audibly similar to the opening song of Stephen Shwartz' musical "Pippin", "Magic to Do". The song was covered by The Isley Brothers on their 1972 album Brother, Brother, Brother (reaching #39 on the R&B chart), Billy Paul on his 1972 album 360 Degrees of Billy Paul, The Stylistics on their 1972 Round 2 album, Dennis Brown on his 1980 album Spellbound, Gloria Estefan on her 1994 album Hold Me Thrill Me Kiss Me, and Kyle Vincent on his 2002 album "Solitary Road". Dina Carroll also covered the song in 1991 with the band Quartz, earning her first hit; it reached #8 in the UK. Amy Grant performed "It's Too Late" on the all-star 1995 tribute album Tapestry Revisited: A Tribute to Carole King. It was also covered by Mark Lindsay in 1971. "It's Too Late" has been featured in Hollywood films, including Fandango, The Lake House, and Invincible.
