Joseph Twadell Shipley (August 19, 1893 in Brooklyn – May 11, 1988 in London) was an American drama critic, author, editor and associate professor of English at Yeshiva College in New York City. He is the author of The Origins of English Words: A Discursive Dictionary of Indo-European Roots.
