The Tragedy of Julius C├Žsar, more commonly known simply as Julius Caesar, is a tragedy by William Shakespeare written in 1599. It portrays the conspiracy against the Roman dictator, Julius Caesar, his assassination and its aftermath. It is the first of his Roman plays, based on true events from Roman history.
