Kala is the second studio album by British musical artist M.I.A., released on August 20, 2007 on XL Records (see 2007 in music). The album was mainly written and produced by M.I.A. and collaborator Switch. Upon release, Kala was hailed by critics and was ranked as one of the best albums of the year by several publications.
