Kerze (Candle) (1982) is a painting by Gerhard Richter. It is a modern interpretation of the age-old "memento mori" subject. It was sold by Christie's International in its Oct. 14 2011 auction of contemporary works in London. The price of 10.5 million pounds ($16.6 million) was an auction record for the artist.

Sonic Youth used a painting of his for the cover art for their album Daydream Nation in 1988. He was a fan of the band and did not charge for the use of his image.
