Le bal (meaning "The ball") is a 1983 Italian-Franco-Algerian film without dialogue directed by Ettore Scola that represents a fifty-year story of French society by way of a ballroom in France.

Accolades

The film won the 1984 César Award for Best Film ex-æquo (tie) with À nos amours. It also was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film, representing Algeria (rather than France).
