The men in the Decamerone, in order, are: Panfilo, Filostrato, and Dioneo. Dioneo tells the story of "Alibech and Rustico".
Panfilo's etymology suggests a "universal lover" or "lover of Pan", which is reminiscent of another famous medieval character: Poliphilus. Dioneo could mean "lustful," based on the name of Aphrodites mother Dione. Filostrato has no direct etymological connotations.
