Martin Gardiner Bernal (March 10, 1937 – June 9, 2013) was a Professor Emeritus of Government and Near Eastern Studies at Cornell University. He was a scholar of modern Chinese political history. He is best known for his work Black Athena, a controversial work which re-examines the origins of Ancient Greek culture and language.
