Michael Bryan (9 April 1757, Newcastle upon Tyne - 21 March 1821, Portman Square, London) was an English art historian, art dealer and connoisseur. After attending the Newcastle Free School he lived in Flanders from 1782 to 1790, possibly initially following the cloth trade but also building up his art historical knowledge. He also made an advantageous marriage in 1784 to Juliana Talbot, sister of the earl of Shrewsbury, which gained him entry to noble circles. He made his final move back to London in 1790 acted as the agent for several Grand Tourists, such as the British buyers of part of the Orleans collection. After his retirement from the art dealing trade in the early 1810s he published the two-volume reference work Dictionary of Painters and Engravers between 1813 and 1816.
