Moon Man is a novel written and illustrated by the French author Tomi Ungerer published in 1966.

Plot

Moon Man is in the Moon in space. A comet flies by and brings him down to Earth in the ground. People race through the site. Moon Man comes out of the ground and goes to prison. He is trapped in a ball and chain. He enters his third quarter and goes out the window. The general comes to verify that the cell in jail is empty.

Moon Man reaches his full size and comes upon a garden party with people in costumes dancing. A grumpy neighbor complains about the music to the police. Moon Man hides from the police in the forest and comes upon a hidden castle. Inside the castle is scientist Doktor Bunsen van der Dunkel. He welcomes the Moon Man to his laboratory and invents a rocket for Moon Man to go back to space. Bunsen van der Dunkel takes Moon Man to the rocket for him to enter his third quarter. Moon Man blasts off in a rocket back to space. Doktor Bunsen van der Dunkel launches the rocket. Moon Man never returns to earth.
