Paul Johnson (1928 – 2023) was an English journalist, popular historian, speechwriter, and author. Although associated with the political left in his early career, he became a popular conservative historian.

He is known for books such as A History of Christianity (1976) Modern Times: A History of the World from the 1920s to the 1980s (1983), Intellectuals: From Marx and Tolstoy to Sartre and Chomsky (1988) and A History of the American People (1997).
