Since it was believed up until the WWII that no real portraits of Sade existed, some imaginary portraits were made throughout history. The most important ones include one by H. Biberstein (to the right), one by Man Ray's Portrait imaginaire de Sade and examples by Clovis Trouille, Louis Binet and Beresford Egan.
