"This [Interview with Shorty Petterstein] is the only item on this record which has not been broadcast. It is an "interview" with a modern jazz musician. This tape was made along with the phony "Music and Folklore" interviews. However here, roles were reversed and Mr. Leafer interviews me as I improvise the character of Shorty Petterstein." --Henry Jacobs on the liner notes to Radio Programme No 1 Audio Collage: Henry Jacobs’ Music and Folklore (1955)

"This [Interview with Sholem Stein] is part of a "phony" interview presented on one "Music and Folklore" program. This recording occurred as the result of an informal evening with a tape recorder and Mr. Woodrow Leafer, a personal friend of mine. No script or interview plan was set up; Leafer and myself started talking and soon found ourselves satirizing a "Music and Folklore" interview. On playback, the material had a spontaneity and humor that convinced me to utilize it in one of the programs. After the broadcast some KPF A listeners expressed sympathy to me for being "taken in" by a lunatic charlatan." --Henry Jacobs on the liner notes to Radio Programme No 1 Audio Collage: Henry Jacobs’ Music and Folklore (1955)
