Rendez-Vous Hotel (2008) is a photography series by Dutch photographer Gert-Jan van den Bemd. Its theme are love hotels.
In the artist's words:
- "Rendez-Vous Hotels; speciale hotels voor vreemdgangers. Er zijn er in België honderden, maar ik heb ze jarenlang niet opgemerkt. Als je ze niet nodig hebt, zie je ze niet. Ze hebben namen als Au Relais, Du Commerce, Madison, Condessa, Contessa, Cristal Palace, Mayfair, Ideal, Return. Nietszeggende namen. Of ze zijn genoemd naar windrichtingen (Nord, Le Sud), streek- of plaatsnamen (Studio Norfolk, Belfast, Carnac, Canterbury, Treviso), of een historische - of romanfiguur (Rubens, Elckerlyc, Quichotte). Regelmatig wordt het huisnummer in de naam verwerkt (Studio 18, Studio 27, Studio 38, Studio 46, Studio 68, Studio 94), een kleur (le Rouge, Château Bleu, La Maison Blanche), of bloemen en plantennamen (Rozenhof, Hortensias, Lindenhof, De Perenboom), maar slechts zelden geeft de naam iets prijs van de ware aard (Toi et Moi, Het Geheimpje, Discret, Lovenest, Love-Hotel, Studio Intime, Cupido).
