Ross Wetzsteon book Republic of Dreams : Greenwich Village: The American Bohemia, 1910-1960 is a collection of essays on the Greenwich Village bohemians of the 1910 - 1960 period.
"They were self-assured rebels, harbingers of a new social order" writes Wetzsteon, "the Villagers made a cult of carefree irresponsibility, but in the service of transcendental ideas."
