Sade vivant (three volumes, 1986-1990) is a biography of Marquis de Sade written by Jean-Jacques Pauvert.

It was published by éditions Robert Laffont between 1986 and 1990. At the occasion of the last tome's publication, the author received the prix des Deux Magots in 1991.

History

The biography consists of three parts:

  • Une innocence sauvage, 1740-1777 paru en 1986
  • Tout ce qu'on peut concevoir dans ce genre-là, 1777-1793 paru en 1989
  • Cet écrivain à jamais célèbre, 1793-1814 paru en 1990
