For a brief moment, Ettore Sottsass was member of the Situationist International. He resigned in protest at the insulting tone of a letter in which the International movement for an imaginist Bauhaus and members of the Lettrists accused the organizers of the Milan Triennale of having left their proposal for an experimental pavilion to gather dust. The letter was dated January 1st 1957, signed by Michèle Bernstein, Constant Nieuwenhuys, Mohamed Dahou, Guy Debord, Jacques Fillon, Giuseppe Pinot-Gallizio, Asger Jorn, Ralph Rumney, Piero Simondo, Elena Verrone and Gil J. Wolman.
