Terry Hale is an English academic.

He was born in Lincolnshire in 1957 and holds degrees in Law (Nottingham Law School), Applied Linguistics (University of Wales) and French Literature (University of Liverpool).

His interest in translation developed as a result of teaching undergraduate and postgraduate courses in British and American law as part of a degree programme at a French university in the mid-1980s.
