"You Don't Own Me" is the title of a popular song by Lesley Gore from 1964, recorded when Gore was 18 years old. The song reached number two on the Billboard Pop Singles Chart in the United States (just behind The Beatles' "I Want to Hold Your Hand"). The song has been covered by Dusty Springfield on her debut album, A Girl Called Dusty, and Joan Jett on her self-titled debut album.

"You Don't Own Me" is about women's rights of how their husbands/boyfriends controlling their lives and freedom.
