"Aanzuigeffect" (literally: sucking in effect) is a Dutch term used in Dutch media to describe the effect that the saving Mediterranean refugees by NGO's such as Médecins Sans Frontières from drowning and bringing them to Europe has a positive effect on future refugees and smugglers alike.
