Richard Horowitz (1949 – 2024) was an American film composer perhaps best known for his work on The Sheltering Sky (1990) with Ryuichi Sakamoto.

He also wrote the soundtracks for L'Atlantide, Three Seasons, and Tobruk.

He debuted with the musical album Eros in Arabia (1981).

Horowitz died in Marrakesh, Morocco, on April 13, 2024, at the age of 75.
