It was at the Hôtel de Condé that the Marquis de Sade was born, his mother was a Lady in waiting to Louis Joseph's mother Caroline where he was born.
There, his mother intended her son to become the playmate of the young Prince de Condé, Louis Joseph, nearly four years his senior.
In 1744, young Sade, than four years old showed neither respect for nor fear of his older playmate. He picked a fight with him and was sent away from the Palace to live with his uncle Abbé de Sade in Provence.
