Truisms (1977–) is a series of 253 aphorisms by American artist Jenny Holzer. It is her best-known work. In these truisms Holzer expresses aphorisms and clichés which were subsequently published in a variety of ways: listed on street posters, displayed in telephone booths, and even, in March 1982, at the invitation of the Public Art Fund, on the giant Spectacolor digital billboard on Times Square.
She calls her truisms "mock cliches" and has stated that they are "like the Great ldeas of the Western World in a nutshell".
